Elizabeth has been with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Northern Nevada
for four years. She is a partner with the statewide, full service law firm of
Jones Vargas. With a focus on commercial real estate and general business,
her clients include buyers and sellers of real property, commercial and
residential developers, builders, landlords, tenants and borrowers. Active in
the community, Elizabeth has taught classes at UNR, has provided pro bono
legal services to KNPB Channel 5, the Lear Theatre and the Commercial
Real Estate Women of Northern Nevada (CREW), and currently serves on the
CREW board of directors. Elizabeth holds a J.D. from Santa Clara University
and a B.S. from the UNR. Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her husband Mark, and their two young girls, Samantha and Katie.

Ms. Carr is a Reno native and graduate of the University of California,
Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business
Administration, Marketing and a Juris Doctorate Degree from Whittier
College School of Law. Gabrielle works as a Deputy City Attorney for
the Reno City Attorney's office.Gabrielle is very involved in the community
as a board member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada and
preparing for the 2007 Great Truckee River Duck Race. Gabrielle also
volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada as well as the Food Bank of
Northern Nevada. Gabrielle has additional involvement in various local organizations including Women Executives Accelerating Change Today (WEACT), Professional saleswomen of Nevada, Northern Nevada Women Lawyers Association, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (Team in Training) and the Reno Sparks Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Carr enjoys marathons, triathlons, hiking, camping fishing and other outdoor activities with her family.
Board Tr easurer: Dawn Ahner
Dawn joined the Make-A-Wish Board in November of 2005 and is currently
the board Treasurer. Dawn is the Chief Financial Officer for Renown Health
and is responsible for overseeing the development of financial plans,
strategies, policies, capital expenditure programs and budgets, while
proactively leading financial performance improvement and good stewardship
for Renown Health and its related entities. She is a C.P.A. and received
her bachelor's degree in business administration with an accounting
concentration from California State University, Sacramento. She received a
Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno. Before joining Renown Health in 1993, she worked for KPMG Peat Marwick. Dawn is married with three daughters, ages four, six, and eight.
Board Secretary: Heidi Schumann
Heidi is a Reno native and is married to Frank. They have two children. Camping, jet skiing and riding a quad runner are Schumann family favorites.
Board Member: Nate Kaplan
Nate Kaplan has been with Make-A-Wish® since the fall of 2005. Nate
originally comes from the San Francisco Bay area where he worked for
world-class advertising agencies including: Bernard Hodes Advertising
and JWT Specialized Communications. He studied Business at California
State University Chico, and since arriving in Reno in 2001, Nate has
worked with the Reno Gazette Journal, and currently is with Twelve
Horses; an interactive communications, email messaging and relationshipmarketing firm located in South Reno. Nate and his wife Sally have two young daughters. As Nate says: “I grew up with a mother that was in education, so I’ve always been profoundly aware of and connected to the needs of children. Now, with having two daughters of my own, that’s true more than ever.”
